I was going through some old computer files a few weeks ago and found 53 business and branding questions I'd developed for an oracle deck and book idea. So I took the questions and made them into cards.
Here are some of the cards....
I'm thinking about turning this into a course which will come with the cards and a guidebook. Another 2017 project!!
This is a deck that I've been pondering for quite a while, maybe 2 or 3 years. Its a deck of spellworking but it's developed based on my background of working with essential oils, gemstones and crystals, feng shui, and Traditional Chinese Medicine.
The deck is designed to be a modern spellcasting tool for everyone. You can use it to determine what magickal elements are needed for the spell. But the cards can also be used as the spell itself simply by laying them out in grid form.
The deck contains cards with magickal actions like severing, discarding, burying, clearing.
It also includes aspects of Traditional Chinese Medicine like the 5 tastes (corresponding to the 5 Elements): salty, sour, bitter, sweet, pungent.
These are a few cards representing magickal tools: bell, bones, crystals and gemstones, and a candle.
Since this deck is extremely experimental, I pulled some cards to figure out how to use it for a specific siutation. My brother and I are dealing with a lawyer who isn't communicating with us about our mom's estate. She passed away and we need the final accounting and disbursements. The lawyer has purposely kept us in the dark. I feel like my hands are tied.
What I realized after pulling these cards is that they can be both the situation and the solution. The NEW MOON represents new beginnings and fresh starts. BINDING represents the feeling of my hands being tied. But this is also a magickal action for reclaiming control. BLACK PEPPER is an irritant and shows just how irritating this situation is. It is also a magickal element for boundaries and protection. SLEEPING is the final card and a magickal action as well. It can show a need to sleep on it or incubate a dream for a solution. In this case, I think the message is to take no action right now. Trust that the New Moon energies will move this process along. Alternatively I could use these four cards to create a spell that combines the new moon, binding, black pepper, and dream incubation.
I took Cheralyn Darcey's Flower Reading Course last year and to get my certificate I must complete 3 flower readings. I've done the first one but I still have the other 2 to finish. My block is that I want to develop a flower card reading deck to do the final two readings. I made a deck last year with photographs which was okay but something was missing. So I'm trying again, this time with a different artistic approach and focus.
This deck's focus is portraits, meaning I want to capture the flower as if it's posing for a portrait. Some flowers present a bright, bubbly persona while others are shy and demure. Likewise, when someone chooses a card from the deck, they are choosing a flower that represents them in some way. I'll be relying on the color, shape, and general impression of the flower for readings with this deck. To create the images, I found photos of flowers on pixabay.com and used the iColorama app to give them a painterly appearance.
This deck will most likely be for personal use only because the cards won't have any words to describe the images nor do I intend to do a guide for the deck. I want to interpret spontaneously based on the context of the question and reading. The prototype will be a mini square deck from makeplayingcards.com.
In this blog, I share my deck ideas, creative process and workflows. These ideas may not ever be published but this is a way to share my ideas for inspiration. If you'd like to support my creativity and help me purchase prototype decks, become one of my patrons through Patreon.com!
